Increase your Visibility – Add PDF’s and videos to your site descriptions

Adding a a video or document to your Site Description can help  increase visibility about your site. Please note that only Site Coordinators can edit the site description fields. Here are some best practices to help with the process: 

 

How to upload a video: 

Before a video can be linked to School of Pharmacy server, it requires 3 things: 

  1. The site must own the copyright.
  2. The site must have permission from the video subjects to use their image(s)
  3. Closed captioning
  • No videos will be housed within School of Pharmacy servers.  Videos and other materials can only be LINKED to our website.
  • It is very important for the video to be housed on a site that provides video streaming services (YouTube is one popular option, but there are others).  Using a streaming service decreases the chances of slow internet connections.
  • We recommend that videos be under 2 minutes in length. If you have more content, consider breaking down a longer video into smaller ones and naming them appropriately so that students can easily find the content they are searching for.
  • We strongly encourage you to review your video content regularly. Refrain from using dates in your videos. Outdated information can deter students from picking your site.

Directions for adding Links:

  1. From the Preceptor Experiential Portal click on the ‘Intranet Login’ button.
  2. Click on ‘Clerkship-Clinic Instructor’. Please note that only Site Coordinators can edit the site description fields.
  3. Looking in the ‘Edit Site Description’ section, click on the site you wish to update.
  4. Any description boxes with the editing tool bar can contain links to documents or Videos.
  5. Videos and/or documents linked in the ‘Brief Description’ box will be provided to students on an APPE focused page.
  6.  Click on the Link icons to add or delete links.
  7. When the box pops up, fill in all the fields. In the ‘Target’ field, select ‘New Window’ from the drop-down menu.
  1. Click OK and Save your changes.
