Preceptor Sign Up for 2026-2027 Second and Third Year IPPE Students
The UW School of Pharmacy invites you to sign up for 2026-2027 Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) students.
- The link to the experiential portal to take the survey may be found at https://experiential.sop.pharmacy.wisc.edu/.
- The directions for signing up are listed below.
- Due to an update in accreditation standards, all IPPE rotations (community, institutional, elective) are now required to be in direct patient-care settings.

Survey Information
- Please complete the online survey by January 2, 2026.
- Only main contacts at each site are able to complete the sign up survey. If you are a main contact and do not have the sign up survey available, please contact Tina Rundle.
- If you are a primary contact for multiple sites, a survey must be completed for each site individually.
- If you are a pharmacist at University Hospital and Clinics, DO NOT SIGN UP. Ryan Seagren will be providing availability for UWHC.
- If you have any student housing opportunities, please contact Amanda Watter at amanda.watter@wisc.edu.
- IPPE assignments will be posted by February 26, 2026.
General Rotation Information
Courses – Students participate in three IPPE courses. The courses are:
426 – Preceptor sign up for first year pharmacy students will take place in July 2026.
526 – Second year pharmacy students shadow the pharmacist to learn about the practice of pharmacy.
- 40 hours at a hospital pharmacy during a one-week period in summer 2026
- 20 hours at a pharmacy site of their choice (elective) during a one-week period in summer 2026
- Please refer to the “IPPE Registration Overview” found on each page of the IPPE survey for details on how to sign up.
625/6 – Third year pharmacy students will actively engage in the role of a pharmacist by performing medication histories and reconciliation, collecting patient information through electronic systems and patient interviews, assessing clinical guidelines, evaluating complex patient cases, and documenting their plan or recommendations.
- 80 hours at a community pharmacy during the fall or spring semester for 8 hours/week for 10 weeks on Thursdays
- 80 hours at a hospital pharmacy during summer 2026 for 8 hours/day for 2 weeks
- 40 hours at a pharmacy site of their choice (elective)
- Summer 2026 for 8 hours/day for 1 week OR
- Blocks 4, 7 or 8 for 1 day/week for 5 weeks on Thursdays

Additional Information
- IPPE survey will occur over multiple pages
- Preceptors may sign up for the “entire summer” or “weekly”
To Complete The On Line Survey
- Go to https://experiential.sop.pharmacy.wisc.edu/
- Click on: Intranet Login
- Enter your Net ID and password (if you do not know your Net ID, please email Tina Rundle)
- Click on Experiential Portal
- Please Update the Site Description Information for each site you are linked to. (Found under ‘Update Site Description’).
- Click on each of your sites under “2nd and 3rd Year IPPE Sign up” to complete the on-line survey. Please complete both of the following steps:
- Verify your demographic information. If this is not correct it may be changed under ‘Update Preceptor Demographic Information’.
- Sign up for introductory clerkship students:
- Please enter the number of DPH-2 students you would like as well as the maximum number of students you would take for the year for each rotation
- Please enter the number of DPH-3 students you would like as well as the maximum number of students you would take for the year for each rotation
- Please list any comments in the comment section
- Click on ‘Submit Survey’ when you are ready.
Reminders
- All IPPE rotations (community, institutional, elective) are now required to be in direct patient-care settings.
- The UW School of Pharmacy recommends a one-to-one ratio for pharmacists to students.
- Please submit this information by January 2, 2026.
