APPE / IPPE SIGN UP FOR 2026-2027 STUDENTS
The APPE sign up for rotations has closed. Thank you to everyone for signing up to precept students. Students will sign up for APPE rotations starting October 27 through November 6. Rotations will be finalized and released on November 17.
IPPE sign up will take place November 17 – January 2. An email will be sent out with IPPE sign up details in mid-November.
IMPORTANT FALL DATES
The Career Fair- The career fair will be in-person on October 16 and 17. All students are expected to attend this event and will not be at their practice sites on these days. Thanksgiving Break – Please note all students have off November 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving. Students will not be at their practice sites on these days.
Block 5 – Block 5 is six weeks plus an extra week (Nov 3 – Dec 19). This is intended to provide an extra week for students to attend the ASHP Midyear meeting the week of December 8, 2025. Students attending the Midyear meeting will finish block 5 on Dec 19. Students who are not attending the Midyear meeting will finish on Dec 12. Please check with your students whether they will be attending the ASHP Midyear meeting. Please contact Mara Kieser with any questions at mara.kieser@wisc.edu.
PRECEPTOR CONFERENCE – MARCH 31, 2026
Save the date for our Preceptor Conference. The date is March 31, 2026, and it will be an in-person meeting. Topics include AI, providing feedback along with the opportunity to network with colleagues. More information about location and specific topics will be shared in a separate email.
APPE SEMINAR
APPE seminars are virtual and include online presentations and one synchronous online discussion. The online discussions are scheduled during weeks 2 or 3 of each block and your APPE student may need to join a discussion in the early morning, over the noon hour, or in the afternoon. Please check with your student when they need to attend these discussions, as it is a required part of the APPE program. SITE REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS
The Office of Experiential Education wants to ensure accurate site/health requirements are listed for each experiential site. Please let Amanda Watter amanda.watter@wisc.edu know if your facility has recently added or updated any site/health requirements for students. If you are not the contact person for these requirements, feel free to provide us with the contact information of the appropriate person/HR department. Thank you!
PAYMENT INFORMATION
We thank you for precepting student pharmacists. We want to let you know that summer payments have been delayed due to the University transitioning to Workday. We apologize for the delay, and we will let you know when checks have been sent out. Checks are made out to the pharmacy. Checks for pharmacies belonging to a corporation or large facility are sent out to the manager/ director. Please check the experiential portal for the student(s) you had in the summer of 2025. The UW Business Office does not provide student names.
STUDENT EVALUATIONS
Students are required to complete an evaluation of the pharmacy site and the preceptors after each experiential rotation. Student feedback is posted on the experiential portal. Click on view preceptor and site evaluations to review your comments. It is best to look for any trends from the student comments. We hope you find this information useful. Our newsletter communication is dependent upon having correct email addresses. If your email address has changed, please go to the experiential portal . Click on – update preceptor demographic information. Make the appropriate changes and click on submit. Thank you for keeping our database up to date!
